Title:
PRR 4893, GG-1, 1953
Description:
Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 28 November 1953. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4893 and another unit whose number is not recorded. Both are GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electrics built in Juniata and rated at 4,620 horsepower each. #4893 was built during April of 1940. In this context, they're waiting to depart with passengers who've just attended the Army-Navy football game; the final score was Army 20, Navy 7. ("Stoneborobranch"; #6 of 10)
