Description:  Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Prominent here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6306 and #6303. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are pushing a westbound mixed-cargo freight and are about to pass under the 12th Street Footbridge. The road number of the newly-rebuilt N-5 cabin car is not recorded. In the right foreground, the westbound ore train headed by engine #6011 continues to rumble on. Note the Blue & White Lines passenger bus parked in the left distance. (#21 of 44)

Description:  Brickyard. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains at the Brickyard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 July 1965. On the left (L to R) are PRR engines #6306 and #6303. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company during 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are returning to East Altoona after helping or pushing a train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, Pennsylvania. On the right (L to R) are PRR engines #2534, #2247, and #7163. #2534 is a GF-25 built by GE in February of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2247 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #7163 is an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They are pulling a 43-car eastbound merchandise train with N-8 caboose #478032.

Shown here are two sets of helper/pusher units returning to East Altoona for more runs up the Allegheny Mountains and bacj. On the right are PRR engines #6304 and #6303. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. Beyond the 24th Street Bridge are PRR engines #6500 and #6306. #6500 is a GF-25A built by General Electric in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #6306 is an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower.
