Description:
Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin) in 1903, this was the first Pacific for Santa Fe. It was their class 1200 and had 69" drivers, generated an impressive boiler pressure of 220 psi for its compound 22.5"x28" cylinders. The engine weight was 214,600 lb and it could produce a tractive effort of 38,416 lb. Later it was rebuilt by the Santa Fe shops with 79" drivers, simplified and superheated. No date, location or photographer was identified on the photo so all are approximate.
