Title:
B&O RDC2 9940
Description:
B&O RDC2 9940 at Washington DC on an unknown day in May 1979, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Originally numbered 1960, this was one of two RDC2's built for the B&O's Speedliner Service, containing a 17 foot baggage section, a 17 foot kitchen, 24-seat 6-table dining section, and 24 coach seats, the only such RDC2 configuration built by Budd. The Daylight Speedliner, Trains #21 and #22, generally two RDC1's and one RDC2, began October 28, 1956 between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia until 1958, then between Pittsburgh and Baltimore and ended January 19, 1963, and the RDC's were transferred to commuter service.

B&O 9940
Description:
My friend Esther has a "thing" for passenger trains in general and RDC cars in particular, as is evident in this picture of the B&O 9940 smoking toward Washington Union Station in the summer of 1987. Those B&O plaques are hopefully in some museum now.
