Louisiana & Delta GP10 1851 was parked at the railroad’s headquarters in New Iberia, Louisiana still wearing the paint scheme of its previous owner, the Mountain Laurel Railroad (MNL). The unit was originally Illinois Central GP9 9061, built in December 1954. It was rebuilt by the Illinois Central Gulf into GP9U 8119 in February 1975, then sold as MNL 13 in February 1992. After Genesee & Wyoming Industries bought the MNL it was transferred to the L&D in January 1997, where it operated as MNL 13 for a while, before being renumbered L&D 1851. |
