Great Western Railway GE 44 ton 4 at Brighton, Colorado on July 13, 1984, Kodachrome by Jim Altman, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 4 was built by GE in September 1942 ( c/n 15127 ) as D&RGW 40. The draft gear extension was installed to permit this locomotive to switch gondolas of sugar beets into the washer without getting the locomotive's electrical equipment wet. |
