I regret that my focus didn't play nice, but I'm still happy I was able document this. In mid-January 2017, Amtrak's northbound Texas Eagle #22 broke down at Big Sandy, TX (about 110 miles east of Dallas) and UP had to send a locomotive Ko rescue it. Eventually UP 8222 came to the rescue and brought the train to its next stop of Longview (15 miles east of Big Sandy), arriving 4 hours and 39 minutes late. UP 8222 stayed with the train until St Louis, where another Amtrak unit replaced it. The train eventually mrrived in Chicago 6 hours and 23 minutes late. |
