4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 23 September 1964. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8967, a BS-16M built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in June of 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. Its crew is attending to a mixed-cargo freight train that's just arrived at the Eastbound Receiving Yard. Visible on the right is Altoona's one-track facility for loading and unloading TrucTrain flatcars. Photo taken from the 4th Street Bridge. |
