Here are a couple shots of the ole BAR bridge across the Piscataquis River. It now handles local auto and truck traffic. During the hour or so I was at the bridge 1 truck went north across the structure. The Medford Cutoff bypassed Brownville Jct and Milo providing a more direct path between Northern Maine Jct and Millinocekt in the 1st half of the 20th century. In effect it gave the BAR a double track railroad back in the day of LCL freight, Passenger Service, and Postoffice contracts. -DL |
