Three units bring an NS stack train snakes down the 1.25% grade out of Kentucky and over the Ohio River into the NS piggyback yard in Cincinnati. This is the northern end of the Southern's fabled, "Rat Hole" line. The CSX main into Kentucky is to the left; an NS autorack train sits to the right. The picture was taken from the Cincinnati Railroad Club's excellent "Tower A" display on the backside of Cincinnati Union Terminal. The cloudy conditions actually helped here as this would've been right into the sun on a nice day. |
