According to the information on the back of the photo, this 0-6-0 switcher was delivered in August of 1937, about a month before this photo was taken. It does explain the sheen still on the boiler casing and lack of any grime on the cylinders. Photo credit given is just Willards. |

My very first visit to the Strasburg Railroad - July 27, 1963 |
Description: |
Number 31 was the road engine that day. We took the ride to Paradise. I'm pretty sure that the PRR engineer's hat that I'm wearing in this photo can more recently be seen on my grandson these days... Me (age 10) and my brother Chuck (age 6). |

SRC 31, 0-6-0, 1963 |
Description: |
SRC-1963. Here is an original photo that I took of a Strasburg Rail Road locomotive near Strasburg, Pennsylvania, on 11 August 1963. Shown here is the head end of SRC engine #31, an 0-6-0 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1908 ~ some 55 years earlier! It is pulling our excursion train to Paradise, where the SRC connects with the Pennsylvania Railroad ~ whereupon it will uncouple, pass around to the other end of our train, recouple, and then pull the train back to the Strasburg Station. |
