CN Turcot Yard roundhouse & turntable |
Description: |
Looking very much like a posed shot, Anthony H. Perles was able to capture a nearly full roundhouse collection posing at the Turcot Yard in Montreal, Canada. The roundhouse was demolished in 1962 and the yard reduced to only a few tracks with a massive road interchange built on the site to handle the car traffic through the area. The locos in the photo are left to right - CN 3424 (2-8-2). 3304 (2-8-2), 5282 (4-6-4), 46 (4-6-4T), 2567 (2-8-0) and 3488 (2-8-2). |

Description: |
Beautiful iconic winter scene of Grand Trunk Western/Canadian National 2-8-2 Mikado 3#406 working as a helper on a cold winter day. The steam plume above the loco is impressive. History - Alco-Schenectady, 1913, serial #52789, nee-GT 501, GTR class M, later renumbered CNR/GTW 3406 in 1923 - some confusion whether it still carried the GTW logo. The loco was scrapped in November of 1959. This is a G.C. Corey photo |
