Title:
PRR 2225, EF-22, 1964
Description:
24th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 29 November 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2225, #2230, and #2309. All were built by EMD. #2225 and #2230 are EF-22's built in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #2309 is an EF-25 built in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They will soon pass under the 24th Street Bridge with a 98-car iron-ore train on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Bringing-up the rear are five ALCo "pushers" (namely, #8673, #8664, #8676, #8661, and #8669) plus N-8 caboose #478124.
