Today was Munice Train Show Day. Once again, I would be going down by myself, as Dad would be covering the Norwell Girls BB Semi-State in Huntington. Our church was holding a pancake and sausage breakfast in the morning, so I decided afterwards to follow NS south to Muncie. Things were pretty quiet, and with only one northbound on the radar, I decided to make a quick pit stop to grab some photos of the New Era engines in the nice morning sunlight. |

With my only northbound being past and nothing else between me and Muncie, it was pretty much a straight shot down to the show. When I hit Royerton, I heard the defect detector on CSX at Chesterfield go off. Apparently there were three eastbounds all back to back to back heading my direction. Since the show was still not open, I decided to try to work east to Selma to grab all three trains. I got to Selma with about 5 minutes to spare before CSX I008 came racing through. |

The show wasnt as spectacular as it has been in past years, but I still managed to find a few good finds, including a Hot Wheels Recycling Truck and a Meijer Foods 18-Wheeler in G scale. From there, it was back to the railroad. NS 122 and a few others had snuck by while I was in the show, but I had to make a run to Payless to pick up some bottled water that was on sale. I ended up going to the wrong Payless and ended back on McGalliard. That ended up being the correct choice, as that put me in a prime position to grab NS 189 coming south into town crossing Old State Road 3. A pair of BNSF GEVOs bring up the head and rear end of the train today. The leader appears to be missing something! |

I eventually found my people and tried to get away from all the others. CSX lined a westbound next, which was I131. With another lull in the traffic behind NS L98, the boys decided that they wanted to go bowling at Munsee Lanes on the south side of town. So, thats what we did for the next few hours. NS sent 4 trains through while we were there while CSX a whopping zero. Power wise, we didnt miss much. We came back to NS at 6th Street right before sunset to grab a northbound NS 26C and a southbound NS 50A off the Frankfort side. NS 26C was first up. |
